The Conference
Focus
Our continuing salute to 100 Years of Cinema will include a tribute to
Buster Keaton, who was born on 4 October 1895. We would also like to
spotlight the achievements of the National Film Board of Canada.
Director Colin Low has been invited to keynote the conference.
 
Papers touching upon film history are especially invited this year.
We also welcome papers on other topics, including, but not limited to,
adaptations and genre topics, biography and film, history and film,
documentary narrative.

We regret that we cannot accept electronic submissions.
 
 
Registration: $60 ($45 for graduate students) payable to Literature/Film
Association. The registration fee includes membership in the
Association. Please mail by 15 November.
 
 
Hotel Contact: Kay Windsor
Book your rooms directly from the hotel, (800) 638-2100, and ask for the
Lit/Film Conference rate--$60 per room per night, single or double (plus
8% tax). To protect your room, reserve by 30 October 1995. Thereafter,
rooms will be available on first-come, first-served basis. Sheraton Limo
Service is available from the Salisbury/Wicomico Airport. Upon arrival
call 524-3535 and ask for the bellman. Be sure also to request the
convention rate-break (about $20; $15 per person if two are sharing the
ride).

A perfect location at 101st Street and oceanfront, the conference center
offers multiple meeting rooms, luxury guest rooms (smoking or
non-smoking) with color TV and free cable and HBO, two oceanfront
restaurants and night club with live entertainment, year-round indoor
heated pool, and a fully equipped health spa.
 
Conference Site
Ocean City, Maryland
The "City on the Sand," Maryland's only beach resort, extends for over
150 blocks from Assateague Island to the Delaware border, offering 38
hotels, 81 motels, 500 rental apartment buildings, and 158 restaurants.
It is located 30 miles east of the Salisbury-Wicomico Airport. Hotel
limo service is available (but make sure you call the Ocean City
Sheraton and not the Salisbury Sheraton).
 
The Association
The Literature/Film Association was established in 1989 as an outgrowth
of Literature/Film Quarterly, its contributors, and supporters to provide
orderly and expedient future planning and to encourage humanistic
approaches to cinema studies. For over a decade, LFQ conferences have
been held at Salisbury State University, Towson State University, the W.
Alton Jones Conference Center of the University of Rhode Island, and the
Sheraton Ocean City Resort & Conference Center.
