Cary Grant was never an "American" character. He was British from womb to
tomb. He spoke with an English accent.. albeit with a flair all his own.
Hepburn is distinctly New England, upper crust in most, if not all, of her
films.
Otherwise, I see your point. Often when watching films of the thirties, it's
tough to distinguish the Yank from the Brit.
