THE 29TH ANNUAL NEW YORK EXPOSITION OF SHORT FILM AND VIDEO
One of the U.S.A.'s longest running festivals
for the independent film/video community
CALL FOR ENTRIES
PREMIERE: NOVEMBER 16 - 17 - 18, 1995, THE NEW SCHOOL
NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES -- DEADLINE: JULY 31, 1995
-- ANIMATION -- DOCUMENTARY -- EXPERIMENTAL -- NARRATIVE --
New York's premiere showcase for cutting-edge and classic
independent shorts seeks animation, documentary, experimental
and narrative works under 60 minutes in length. The New York
Expo, now in its 29th year, is one of the nation's longest-
running annual festivals of short independent film and video.
Over the years, the Expo has sought out and presented the
best of the new -- conceptually advanced, technically
innovative, thematically challenging, and unconventional non-
commercial films and videos -- works that have often had a
difficult time finding a venue. Finalist works are screened
for the public and the New York film/video community at the New
School in Greenwich Village, and are seen by distributors and
exhibitors in this major media market. Selected finalist works
will tour to other venues. The 1995 New York Expo will feature
panel discussions and a special screening of selected films
from the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival.
First, Second, and Third Place awards are granted in each
category, plus a cash Eastman Kodak prize. Judges for the Expo
have included Academy Award-winning directors, noted
independents, and eminent scholars and critics. The Expo is
supported by the New York State Council on the Arts, Eastman
Kodak, Home Box Office, and the New York Film/Video Council,
among others.
Films/videos should have been completed since 1993. Student
and international entries are welcome. Entry fee: $35. Public
screening formats: 16mm and 3/4" NTSC video; 35mm and Super 8
films are shown in video projection. Preview on 3/4" or 1/2"
video, NTSC only. Entry Deadline: July 31, 1995.
