How can we liberate the positive potential of the mass media
in multi-ethnic socities?
How can we represent a non-ethnocentric world to more homogenous
communities?

Announcing a new _eram-list_ mailing list for academics, media
professionals and others (e.g., graduate and postgraduate students)
concerned with the SERIOUS discussion and dissemination of issues and
information related to ETHNICITY, RACISM and the MEDIA. Among
other topics, this may include:

- The representation of ethnicity in the media.
- The recruitment and employment of ethnic minority persons in the
media.
- The role of media owned by and/or aimed at ethnic minorities.
- Notification of upcoming seminars and conferences.
- Announcements of relevant new works.
- Enquries for resources/contacts.

Subscribers to the eram-list can also access specialized ERaM
Bibliographies of recent work in the field and, soon,
Best-of-the-Month Compilations drawn from contributions to the list.

In generating a non-systematic but invaluable review of media
performance in the representation of ethnicity and of professional
and institutional developments in challenging racism and xenophobia,
the eram-list is of immediate relevance to journalists, media
professionals, media researchers and those concerned with ethnic
relations in the contemporary world.
