I've given up thinking that the Academy has a self-reflexive consciousness.
I finally thought this would be the year that they realize they should
stop rewarding mediocre shit that will be erased in film history in favor
of things that will go down as important and innovative. Yes, I bet on
Pulp & I got burned. Oh well, my ideals have been squelched yet again.

Best Surprise in Presentation, Not Awards: Dave's "Wanna Buy a Monkey" bit.

Best Surprise in Awards, Not Presentation: Priscilla actually getting the
award it deserved for best costumes.

"You've probably heard that Microsoft has recently taken over the Catholic
Church. The Vatican was pleased, saying, 'Well, we've been using icons for
over 2000 years, and Microsoft has only been using them for 3, so we figure
we'll be able to help them out a bit.'"
