Hello,
I too am looking at film schools, and found your posting very helpful
for the responses it garnered. I didn't know about FSU...does anyone
know how much grad tuition is for their film program? Also, is it possible
for one to attend film school part-time? (Any film school, that is)

There are two sources I wanted to recommend for people looking at film
programs.

The Whole Film Sourcebook, edited by Leonard Maltin, published in 1983.
This source is a *bit* dated, but Maltin covers many aspects of
filmmaking, such as funding. He also has a chapter on the biggest
and "best" film schools that cover not only NYU, UCLA, etc, but
other lesser known yet excellent programs such as Northwestern University's.
(He raves about Northwestern and touts it as a little known but great
program...anyone care to comment?).
As I said, his book is a bit dated, so it should be used only as an overview
of lesser known schools.
Another book that I have found very helpful is:
The Complete Guide to American Film Schools and Cinema and Television Courses,
by Ernest Pintoff, just published in 1994 by Penguin.
The information in here lists every program in the country, but doesn't
evaluated them as neatly as Matlin. There are many programs to wade through,
and the information is broken up state by state. Type of degree offered,
famous alumni and guide POV about the school is included with the usual
address and program contact. Some entries include tuition, though most don't.

I have my own copy of the Pintoff (I think it was 13.95) and I borrowed the
Matlin from a library.

Hope this helps!

Marcella.
