A few people have posted requests for information about Canadian Film
Schools. The following list was compiled for the undergraduate University

of Toronto Cinema Studies Students' Union, to compare the U. of T.'s
programme with other programmes in Canadian Universities.

Most of Canada's films schools are located in Ontario and Quebec. In
Ontario, the community college system usually handles film production,
while the Universities handle theory, criticism and history; the exception
is York University which offers both. If you are looking to do a Masters
degree in Film Production, you have only two choices in English Canada:
York University in Toronto, and Concordia Univeristy in Montreal. The
University of Toronto just started a Masters programme in Film theory,
criticism and history.

Off the top of my head, here are some Canadian film schools for production,
in order of my preference:

(1) Sheridan College, Oakville, Ontario
(2) Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec
(3) Ryerson Polytechnical Univeristy, Toronto, Ontario
(4) Humber College, Toronto, Ontario
(5) Nova Scotia School of Art and Design (NASCAD), Halifax, Nova Scotia
(6) York University, Toronto, Ontario
(7) Ontario College of Art (OCA), Toronto

For Film Theory, Criticism and History try these schools:

(1) University of Toronto (Ok, I am totally biased on this one,
but I think it holds up under close scrutiny)
(2) Queens University, Kingston, Ontario
(3) Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario
(4) York University, Toronto, Ontario
(5) Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec
(6) McGill University, Montreal, Quebec
(7) University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario

There are probably other Universities with small Cinema Studies programmes,
but the above listed ones are the biggest and best programmes in English
Canada. In French Canada, the University of Montreal has the best Theory,
Criticism and History Programme.
