LEARNED SOCIETIES CONFERENCE
 
 
Contention and propaganda : 100 years of documentary film

Invitation to submit a paper
 
Hosted by UQAM in the context of The Learned Societies conference 1995, and
jointly organized with the National Film Board of Canada, the symposium
Contention and propaganda : 100 years of documentary film will figure three
different types of activities : conferences, film projections and
scientific lectures.  These activities will be spread out over a three-day
period according to three major themes :
 
-       The years of contention (the 1960's and 1970's)
-       The great ideologies (liberalism, communism, fascism)
-       The social issues (feminism, social cleavage, generational
crisis,=0Benvironment, etc...)
 
We would welcome the opportunity of examining your proposal for this
symposium.  If you are interested, kindly forward us the following
information :
 
-       Title of presentation
-       Major theme to which your paper relates to (see above)
-       Biographical information on the author (background, occupation)
-       Summary of presentation
-       Address, phone number and fax number
 
We are pleased to announce that on the opening night, we will pay a tribute
to filmmaker Gilles Groulx and that the closing night will consist of an
all-night film projection.  Finally, the proceedings of the symposium will
be published by XYZ Publishers.
