Thanks for your post. My goal in that post of mine with all the
statistics was to make the point that movies, TV, whatever, have such an
effect on society that many of us end up believing everything we see and
hear, despite the facts. Many of the replies to that post made the point
even stronger. Many people won't believe the truth when they've been
exposed to a different POV for so long.

Its not their fault, I don't think. If someone kept telling me
everyday that Sun rises in the West, sooner or later I'd believe that
even though my eyes might see things quite differently.

I think its a good subject for discussion in terms of films and
TV. We rant and rave about violence in films and decry the proliferation
of all sorts of "bad" things, but we allow much of the screwy spousal abuse
line to go right by. That's okay. See what I mean? I wonder which is
worse?

A few years ago, here in LA, a large group of mothers were upset
about movie and TV violence and the effect they thought it was having on
their children. So what did they do? They had a law passed to make the
sale of squirt guns illegal in the City! You can buy all the REAL guns
you want...Uzzi's, Glocks, AR15's, you name it. BUT NO SQUIRT GUNS!

I hear snorring out there. Better stop.
