Not to get into a slanging match about what was first, biggest, or best
(especially when Sam Fuller's concerned), but Warners released a feature
titled Jump Into Hell, which is about Dien Bien Phu, in 1955. It was
produced by David Weisbart (who produced the rather higher-profiled
Rebel Without A Cause for Warners that same year) and directed by David
Butler, and includes actuality footage amid the backlot combat. By
coincidence or not, it also casts Marcel Dalio in a supporting part.
