How about Orson Welles "Touch of Evil" -- nasty lawyer there.  You might
try having a look in Silver and Ward's "Film Noir: and encyclopedic
reference to the American style". Film noir is a great place to look for
sleazy characters of all kinds, and the Silver and Ward book gives plot
descriptions for hundreds of films.
