Dear Roger and list,
This is in response to among other things the discussion of espousal murder
abuse, etc and the media's contribution or participation or lack thereof.

I also want to thank Donna Cunningham's remarks. The statistic 52% would
seem to be an equalization of women's and men's murderous capabilities
in the context of marriage. Let's talk about the world outside the U.S.
In Israel, for example, there were 38 murders of wives or ex-wives or
ex-girlfriends and 1 by a married woman of her husband. Let's talk about
the Arab sector and killing of women of matters of honor. A very fine
docudram "death of a princess" elaborated on the Muslim attidudes toward
women. And how many Serbian, Bosnian women soldiers are there murdering
and raping men.

I also think that the purchase of 3 filmbooks would answer approximately
25% of the questions asked here. Halliwell's FILM GUIDE and FILMGOER'S
COMPANION (latest edition) and a Maltin or Scheuer (we have both for
comparison) Movies on TV. A fourth or fifth as you like that we find
incredibly useful especially if you don't know the name of a film
but see the actor you can then trace it in Ephraim Katz's book
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FILM . The last edition is 1979. When he died soon after
he gave his whole film book collection to the Tel Aviv Cinemateque.

Maybe I am a little dense, but although i realize the tragedy of the
OJ Simpson case and how overwhelmingly it touches on all of us, it seems
to me more a matter of the psychology of the man rather than on the
media pursuit and some of the comments of the media effects are a bit
strained in my view.
Sorry for being long winded but i am writing from very far away.
