Concerning the discussion of the New World/Fox deal: It should
be noted that New World has lately been on hard times. In fact their
only actual operating unit(outside of what you had mentioned), serviced
foreign sales of U.S. pickups only.
Most of their building on Sepulevda Blvd had been rented out to
other tenants. Until Fox, New World was on its way out. In fact, it is
my feeling that New World was the "worst deal" for any of the majors to
pick up. The recent groupings of Republic/Blockbuster, New Line and Ted,
the Castle Rock stuff, etc., we're much better deals. New World on the
other hand ended up with a big bunch of cash they needed badly.
Perhaps the current New World management won't screw things up
this time around.
