Usenet is more convenient than a listserv simply because it doesn't clutterr
your mailbox and (if you go away for a while) push you to the space limit
most universities impose and therefore sometimes cause other mail to get
bounced back. You can scan usenet easily and ditch the messages you don't
want easily.

But I have several times seen smart and involved usenet conferences degenerate
over a period of three or four months into drivel as people with only a
peripheral interest in the subject and even less information took it over.
The just got dumb and jejune. The serious people, the ones who made the
conference interesting in the first place, went elsewhere. The usenet
Mythology confrence, for example, was for a while a forum where interesting
exchanges and discussions went on; now it's silly putty.

So I'd recommend keeping Screen-l a listserv only. I really like the level
of conversation here, and I'd hate to lose it.
