Actually Bresson is one of the most cannonized of French directors. Not
only does B find his way into almost every text book on the history of
French Cinema but also into most textbooks on the history of cinema as
such.
 
He's not considered part of the New Wave because most of his films were
made before 1959, the generally accepted year for the "beginning" of the
New Wave.
