Re B Lorenz' post on the "beauty and the beast" theme: here's a plug for
a severely underrated film, Franc Roddam's THE BRIDE, a version of
FRANKENSTEIN from the point of view that the real monster is the doctor
himself. The beastly people-- the reanimated being and the freak show
with which he travels-- are "beautiful" in spirit. I really thought the
film made a statement about cultural tendencies to create scapegoats and
ascribe evil to them. Give it a look...
