At the risk of this appearing as a self-advertisement, I wanted to announce a
change of address and make several offers related to it. . .
Starting in July, I will be Director for 2 years of the Paris Program in
Critical Studies (CENTRE PARISIEN D'ETUDES CRITIQUES).
This program, which some of you no doubt know about, is an
undergraduate/graduate program for American students to study film theory and
history, cultural studies, French theory, and suchlike. The program is run by
the Council on International Educational Exchange, and policy for the academic
content of the program is supervised by a consortium of 23 universities most of
which have major programs in film study.

My offers:
1. Since I will be in France for 2 years, please let me know if there is
anything I can do for any of you there: get certain books, arrange a couch for
 an
overnight stay, check library resources on a particular topic, etc, etc.
I am willing to try to do whatever I can.

2. If you are coming to Paris during the academic year and might be willing to
give a talk to the Program, please let me know. I can try to arrange speaking
gigs. I envisage visiting lecturers to be an important resource for the
Program.

3. If you have students who might be interested in studying French film
theory, film history, French culture and so on within such a program, please
have them contact me. I'd be glad to to talk to them about the program.

I am leaving for France on 4 May and will probably be off-line from Internet
until late August when the office reopens for the Fall term. I will have the
same e-mail address as now. Until just before 4 May, I will be on-line and
can also be reached by telephone at 412-624-6530.
