I don't know about stylistic trends today...the trend today seems to be

toward fast and frequent cuts, lots of moving camera, somewhat the opposite

of Bresson...however, that doesn't mean that he isn't a part of the

French cannon...I recommend an old but interesting book, The Transcendental

Style...which links Bresson to Ozu.  You might find it interesting.
