Cal's right that RLIN is an important network of information for libraries,
but OCLC is larger, and has been edging RLIN out, with some important
exceptions--which of course I've forgotten--that keep RLIN in business.
I'm not sure what Cal means about RLIN replacing the need for ILL.
Librarians looking at budget crunches remain concerned about the level of
expense involved in ILL.
