This isn't much of an answer, but I remember reading an interview with
Quentin Tarantino in which he indicated that Reservoir Dogs is what he
called the gang of thieves.  When pressed about the meaning of the term,
which he allowed was nowhere to be found in the film, he admitted that
it was an in-joke, but refused to provide an explanation or elaborate.
 
Nice guy, eh?
