Nice quoting, kjf.  We must us the same Dict. of Quot.  I imagine the
fault line started to shift because some here assumed that the original
'o' post was satirical in intent. It certainly seemed that way to me.
Meanwhile, other more solemn folks (lugubrio-Americans?) seemed, against
all odds, to take it seriously. It takes all kinds; that's what makes
a horse race; different strokes; etc. etc. But apparently, certain notions
of tolerance do not include tolerance of parodic treatment of one's own
ever so precious assertions. That's what happens when you elect Democrats,
I guess. For a different sort of treatment of a similar topic, see the
"junk mail" thread over at cinema-l. I'd heard there was more activity on
that list; now I think I understand why.
