I'm searching for a kinescope of a documentary which aired on NBC on November
16, 1958. The series was called Kaleidoscope, and the news special entitled
"The American Stranger." Hosted by Charles Van Doren and produced/narrated by
Robert McCormick of NBC news. Subject matter dealt with U.S. policies regarding
termination of American Indian tribal status, and focused upon Blackfeet,
Flathead and Menominee tribes in particular.
Apparently many copies of kinescope were sent out to remote regions after
the original broadcast, especially to Indian communities. If you know of the
existence of a kinescope in an archives, library or private possession (or if
you have ideas where I might look), please let me know. Thanks!
