Hey! Let's "do" lunch!
I've noticed that several SCREEN-Litarians are going to be attending
the Society for Cinema Studies conference that cranks up this Thursday
down in the Big Easy (New Orleans). So what say we get together for
lunch on Saturday and talk a little treason?
Where: Cafe Maspero (near the Mississippi, in the French Quarter, on
Decatur Street near Toulouse Street--just a couple of blocks from
the conference hotel). It's an informal sandwich-type place in an
old, neat building. And if a lot of folks show up or it's too durn
crowded we can go to the brewery-converted-into-a-mall across the
street (Jax Brewery).
When: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, 13 February.
Let's meet OUTSIDE the Cafe Maspero at 1:30. I don't think they'll seat an
incomplete party; the line to get in usually forms on the sidewalk
I'll hang out there holding a SCREEN-L sign. Anywhere else I might feel a
bit foolish, but I can't imagineanyone will notice in New Orleans. I'll be
the guy with the distinguishingly greying hair pulled back in a ponytail (but
then that also is not so noticeable in N'awlins).
If you plan to come, drop me a personal e-note at the address below so I
can see how many folks I should anticipate.
Hope to see you there!
Leave a log in the water as long as you like: it will
never be a crocodile.
