Cal Pryluck, I've always considered "Harlan County USA" to be a powerful
documentary, and enjoyed your comments. You raise the question: did it
really do the miners any good? I certainly don't know, but it seems likely
it would do good to spread the word throughout the country that miners
are getting screwed, etc. It sure seems it would help. And when the film
won an Oscar, everybody was talking about it. ----- I understand Kopple
has now made a similar film about the meat packing industry in Minnesota.
I haven't seen it. Ernie.
