Suggested panel topics include:

    Sound Byte
*  The Voice of the Self in Film/Video Making

*  Contested Territory:  Bodies on Screen
*  Crossing Cultural/Ethnic/Gender Boundaries
*  Theories of Production.
*  Other suggestions for topics related to the
    conference themes
Papers should not exceed 20 minutes in length.  Panel
proposals must include a synopsis of each paper and the
name of a moderator/discussant.
One-page proposals for panels and papers (along with
short 2-3 sentence program descriptions) should be sub-
mitted to:

Formal Screenings/Respondents
Written proposals for formal screening of films and vide-
otapes along with requests to be a respondent should be
submitted to:

Films/tapes may be in any genre and on any topic.  For-
mat must be 16mm, 1/2" VHS or 3/4" UMATIC.
Media Writing
This year, the conference is soliciting media writing
(treatments, documentary proposals, sections of screen-
plays) for formal presentation and response.  Submit writ-
ten material (up to ten pages) to the conference director.

Student Participation
As always, students are invited to submit and participate
in all aspects of the conference.  In addition, we would
like to encourage students to organize and participate in
panels, screenings and/or by holding caucuses of their

General Information
All proposals must be submitted on the enclosed confer-
ence forms.  Additional forms are available from Annette
Barbier (papers/panels), Jan Roberts Breslin (screenings),
or the conference director (media writing).
The conference planning committee encourages partici-
pants to submit papers and formal responses to screenings
for possible publication as conference proceedings in the
Journal of Film and Video.
At past conferences, special interest groups have met on
an ad hoc basis.  If you would like to schedule a meeting
time for a new or already existing group, contact the con-
ference director.
In order to appear in the conference schedule, participants
must have paid all registration fees prior to the late fee
deadline of July 1, 1993.
