One film that I thought of : Zelig, where the character's
story (supposedly true, shot in documentary style) is
bought by Hollywood and given the Hollywood treatment
(e.g., romanticized and with a more attractive leading
man than Woody Allen's "real" Zelig).

While we're (I'm?) on the subject of Woody, an ironic
segment from Bananas, which I saw again this weekend,
has him trying to explain his purchase of porno
magazines with:"Oh, I'm doing a study of sexual
perversion. I'm already up to advanced child
molesting".
