Last summer SCREEN-L had quite a lively discussion of fan use of
film and TV--like the creation of new, sexually baroque STAR TREK
Since then, Henry Jenkins, the author of a book on the subject (TEXTUAL
POACHERS) has joined the list. I've asked Henry if he'd entertain
questions and discussion on this topic and he's agreed.

any of my mail for a very long time and I'm greeted with
the news that we are starting the fan dialogue again.
My bookstore claims that they can't
even order Textual Poachers! :-( But I keep hoping I'll be
able to see the final product.
One of the questions I've been grappling with is how fan
fiction has been affected by computers. I know that desktop
publishing has changed the look of fan fiction "zines" but
I'm trying to ascertain if any of the online interactive
fiction is fan fiction.
Also in your article on Beauty and the Beast fandom you
mention meta-textual understandings of the show. What about
how the actors/characters are constructed?
