I would like to add some further comment on Bert's message
about TP & RD.
It's clear that TP is full of Lynch's allusions to his own work.
You could always think of the dwarf (or the big giant) in TP as
the fairy at the end of "Wild at Heart", for their roles on the
story ( more than the fact that they're fantastic characters )
are the same: help the protagonist to finally achieve what he's
been searching since the begining of the film.
The fact that Lynch frequently uses the same actors in his films
is also intersting, for it makes even stronger the idea that he
is creating his own self-connective "environment". That really
struck me when I found out that there are some actors in both TP
& "Wild at Heart" ( the daughter of the owner of the hotel, for ex. - I
can't recall her name ). Paul Verhoven did the same thing before
"Basic Instinct" with the pair "Robocop" & "Total Recall".
More than that, Lynch really likes the game of alluding - everywhere
in his works you can find references to other movies, etc.
For instance, the name of the casino/whorehouse in TP is "One eyed Jack's",
actually the name of the first film directed by Marlon Brando: a
This leads me to the conclusion that this "environment" is not only
