Going away for the summer?
Losing your e-mail account for ever and ever?
It's that time of year when folks are often disconnected from their e-mail
account for weeks at a time, or even have their account terminated as they
graduate or move or whatever. SCREEN-L will keep on asending you mail,
however, unless you either officially, permanently signoff or you
temporarily stop mail from going to your account.
This can lead to some stuffed e-mail boxes and some irate listserv
coordinators. Here's how to avoid both:
To permanently disconnect from SCREEN-L, send e-mail to LISTSERV@UA1VM
(not to SCREEN-L@UA1VM) and in the first line of the message put:
SIGNOFF SCREEN-L
To have your mail put on hold temporarily, send e-mail to LISTSERV@UA1VM
(not SCREEN-L@UA1VM) and put the following command in the first line:
SET SCREEN-L NOMAIL
When you return and you want to receive messages again, follow the same
procedure with the command:
SET SCREEN-L MAIL
Note: Those SCREEN-Lites who connect up via Internet instead of BITNET should
use a slightly different address: [log in to unmask]
Any questions or problems--give me a buzz. Otherwise, have a rootin' tootin'
summer!
P.S. I and SCREEN-L will be here all summer. I'll be slaving away on a
textbook (READING BETWEEN THE SCAN LINES: AN INTRODUCTION TO TELEVISION
CRITICISM <shameless plug, I know>). I don't know what SCREEN-L will be
doing.

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat
a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk
upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.
I do not think that they will sing to me.
