havent heard much on
woody allen's "shadows and fog".

i saw it last night and although
it was not as good as crimes and misdemeanors
i thought it was quite good in its own right.

its a vintage-like print, not merely black and white
but set back in time, i believe in the 1930s.
it has woody's usual morality questions
and the ultimate "do you believe in god?"
question that is generally summarized in the
last few lines of the film.

the cameos: madonna, kathy bates, jodie foster,
john cusak and others seem a bit hap-hazard
but are not alltogether inappropriate.
i found it interesting trying to figure out
how each of them might come up in the story
(since the credits announce them i was sort
of waiting for each to show up).

the story reminded me of fritz lang's "M"
and i wouldnt be surprised if woody
admitted its influence.

id sum it up as being "classy"
a vintage woody allen.
