From the University of St Andrews Centre for Screen Cultures Playlist Initiative:

It’s time to get spooky! Just in time for Halloween and the Final Girls Chile Film Festival (5-7 November) we have two lists of Horror:

From Valeria Villegas Lindvall (University of Göteborg): Vivas y Furiosas (Alive and Furious): Women in Latin American Horror is a list that highlights the creativity of Latin American genre filmmaking through a selection of horror films by women. These are provocative works designed to get your blood pumping and mind reeling.

And

From Eliza Rodriguez y Gibson (Loyola Marymount University) it’s ‘She’s Come Undone: Apocalypses, Big and Small’ a list of apocalypses written on and through the bodies of women and girls. Mankind is under threat but that’s not necessarily a bad thing in these works of film, television, and (for something new) literature.

This initiative draws on the expertise and passions of films studies scholars and media practitioners to help people navigate the surfeit of options online and to think about how they are interacting with what's out there. As a project exploring the radically inclusive and expansive potential of lists, a typically totalising and delimiting object, it always seeks contributors. Don’t be shy.

I’m also excited to say other things are afoot at the Centre for Screen Cultures including a year of events on The Mediated Voice from CSC co-directors Lucy Donaldson and Philippa Lovatt, beginning with a screening of the brilliant Yours in Sisterhood (Irene Lusztig, 2018) followed by a round table with the director, as well as co-editors of “Re-voicing the Screen” published in the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies: Tessa Dwyer and Jennifer O’Meara with contributor Jaimie Baron, and film historian Shruti Narayanswamy.

Details here but do stay tuned for updates: https://screenculture.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/2020/10/27/the-mediated-voice-yours-in-sisterhood-event/
