Dear all,

VIEW Journal of European Television and History announces its two latest
issues: 1968 in the Media, a special issue co-edited by the FIAT/IFTA’s
Media Studies Commission, and Material Histories of Television, a co-edited
by John Ellis and Dana Mustata. Both issues are full open access and
available online. We also extend an invitation for extended proposals and
full articles for our forthcoming first open issue. Please find more
information below -- and much thanks for sharing these widely with
potentially interested colleagues and within relevant networks.

Special issue #12: 1968 in the Media

Co-edited by FIAT/IFTA Media Studies Commission

On March 20, 2017, EUscreen and FIAT/IFTA's Media Studies Commission
organized a joint seminar about 1968 in the Media[1]. The event aimed to
explore the media coverage of different political and social events that
took place in 1968 around the globe. You can find this special issue on
https://www.viewjournal.eu/17/volume/6/issue/12/

Issue #15: Material Histories of Television

Co-edited by John Ellis and Dana Mustata

Television’s material culture offers us a starting point into this
exploration of television’s current status. Artefacts and material traces
become imbued with social relations, unearthing for us the web of users,
uses and meanings associated with television — both in its historical and
present form.

In this edition of VIEW, authors explore the many ways in which
television's material heritage can be repurposed and exploited, bringing to
the fore new emergent uses for this older medium. You can find the table
of contents at https://www.viewjournal.eu/19/volume/8/issue/15/

Call For Articles proposals or Full Articles

VIEW Journal is currently open to both article ideas and full articles for
its first open issue, set to be published in spring 2021. We encourage
scholars and audiovisual archivists to use this open call to provide
(suggestions for) articles and audiovisual essays, as well as other forms
of reflective thought.

You can submit your abstract proposals by February 1st, 2020 via e-mail or
submit full articles up until June 1st, 2020 via our VIEW Submission form:
