Dear Colleague

The first BAFTSS French and Francophone Special Interest Group conference panel will take place at the BAFTSS conference in Bristol in April 2017. The panel will be 10.00-12.00 on the first day of the conference, Thursday 20 April, and will have the following papers:


- Mary Harrod (University of Warwick), “The Emotional Politics of Genre”

- Phil Powrie (University of Surrey), “Z music: the 1970s French political thriller”

- Ginette Vincendeau (King’s College London), “Challenging the film de banlieue: from stereotypes to invisibility”


There will also be the following papers:


- Hannah Paveck (King’s College London), “The Ethics of Listening: Tonal Silence in Claire Denis’s Trouble Every Day (2001)”

- William Brown (University of Roehampton), “Philosopher and/or dog: Adieu au langage as non-cinema

- Gemma Edney (University of Exeter), “Un vrai teen movie français? The contemporary teen genre in France”
