Diane Carson & I want to tell you about a new documentary that's a 'must-have' for filmmakers, educators, students, and professionals. "Other People’s Footage: Copyright & Fair Use"<http://www.otherpeoplesfootage.com/index.html> explores the three questions crucial to determining fair use exemptions and presents illustrative examples from nonfiction, fiction, and experimental films that use footage, voice, music and sound from other individuals' creations—without permission or paying fees.

Through on-camera interviews with noted documentarians, film and legal experts, "Other People's Footage" also clarifies legal issues regarding trademark, parody, shooting on location or in a controlled setting, and reviews relevant court cases. (This film features interviews with Haskell Wexler, Carl Deal, Tia Lessin, Scott Hamilton Kennedy, Mitchell Block, Betsy McLane, Michael Donaldson, Patricia Audferheide, Jan Krawitz, Alexis Krasilovsky, Skip Blumberg, Rodney Ascher, Aaron Greer, Peter Jaszi, Alex Rotaru, Andrew Berger, Jorge Oliver, Claire Aguilar, and Yvonne Welbon.)

The 75-minute film is available for download at: https://vimeo.com/158110187
