EL ETERNAUTA´S WIFE (Spain, Argentina), by Adán Aliaga NEW
RELEASE

It has been fifty years since the adventures of Juan Salvo were first
published in the science fiction comic El Eternauta. In 1957,
Argentine writer Héctor Germán Oesterheld created the highly
metaphorical and political graphic novel. To this day, the comic book
continues to influence thousands of readers and artists all over
the world. EL ETERNAUTA´S WIFE follows Elsa Sánchez,
Oesterheld´s widow. The daughter of immigrants from Galicia, her
life is evidence of the cruelty of Argentina´s repressive
dictatorship, which took the lives of her husband, their four
daughters and their respective husbands. The presence of
Oesterheld’s political inclinations in his work, which included a
severe criticism against the social and political situation in
Argentina, was the perfect excuse to start this story of
brutality. Learn more and order the

THE METAL STORK (El Salvador), by Joan López Lloret NEW RELEASE

Twenty years have passed since the signing of the Peace Accords that
ended the civil war in El Salvador (1980-92), a conflict in which the
army and the FMLN´s guerrillas confronted each other. The operations
of the armed forces in rural areas had devastating consequences for
the civilian population, with thousands of people dead or missing. In
the middle of the war, rural kids Ana Lilian, Ricardo and Blanca
witnessed the murder of their families and grieved as the “metal
stork” -the military helicopter- determined their fate. A military
family adopted Ricardo, Ana Lilian wondered alone before moving from
foster home to foster home, and Blanca was sent to Spain with an
adoptive family. They were children who disappeared in the 1980’s
but now, with children of their own, they try to reconnect with their
long-lost families, hoping to reconcile their pasts and bring peace
to the present. Learn more and order the

	OTHER FILMS ON THE SUBJECT:

THE DEATH OF PINOCHET (Chile), by Bettina Perut & Ivan Osnovikoff

On December 10, 2006, General Pinochet died unexpectedly in
Santiago´s Military Hospital. For 24 hours, his death reawoken the
political divisions that marked Chile´s recent history with death and
violence. Using original footage and the testimonies of four
characters who lived through that day of profound contrasts, the film
relates the end of a key chapter in Chile´s history. Fun and
provocative, THE DEATH OF PINOCHET is an intimate and surprising
portrait of Chilean society. With undeniable historical, social and
political importance, this moving film expresses the vitality of a
nation. Learn more and order the

¨Fun, provocative and over the top, the film explores in an intimate
and raw way a side of Chilean history rarely shown on film.¨ –
THE FILM SOCIETY OF LINCOLN CENTER

WITH MY HEART IN YAMBO (Ecuador), by María Fernanda Restrepo

In 1988, when director María Fernanda Restrepo was only 10 years
old, her life changed in the cruelest of ways: her two brothers -then
14 and 17- vanished without a trace. Only later did the family learn
that the boys had been illegally detained, tortured, and murdered by
the Ecuadorean police. Now, decades later, with her brother´s
remains still missing, Restrepo embarks on the painful journey of
recounting her family´s story. The film portrays one of the darkest
political episodes in Ecuador and provides an insider´s look to the
recent history of this country. Learn more and order the

CLANDESTINE CHILDHOOD (Argentina, Spain, Brazil) by Benjamin Avila

Argentina, 1979. After years of exile, twelve-year-old Juan and his
family come back to Argentina under fake identities. His parents are
members of the Montoneros Organization, which is fighting against the
Military Junta that rules the country. Because of their political
activities they are tracked down relentlessly, and the threat
of capture - and even death - is constant. However, Juan´s daily
life is also full of warmth and humor, and he quickly integrates into
his new environment. An earnestly heartfelt cine-memoir based on the
director´s own tragic early life, CLANDESTINE CHILDHOOD was
Argentina´s submission for the 2013 Best Foreign-Language Academy
Award. Learn more and order the
film at https://pragda.com/film/clandestine-childhood/ [5]

¨Seductive! An intimate, richly tactile and impressionistic picture
of a once-upon-a-time in childhood.¨ – Manohla Dargis, NEW YORK
