5. Symposium on Jean Renoir's The River

There are still tickets left for the Saturday afternoon symposium on Jean Renoir's The River, following the screening of the film at 6.00.p.m on Friday night 26th June. 



If you are on the waiting list, or want to sign up for the screening on Friday night with an introduction by our fellow, Gayatri Chatterjee, do please come along as Londoners have the habit of signing up for free events and then half of them don't show when others who want to come don't come because it seems to be full.

The Birkbeck Institute of the Humanities (BIH) and the Birkbeck Institute of the Moving Image (BIMI) are very pleased to welcome:



Gayatri Chatterjee, BIH Visiting Fellow at Birkbeck, film scholar of Indian cinema and author of Awaara (Penguin, reissued 2003) and Mother India (BFI Film Classics, 2002).



Tessa Hadley, Professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, recent novels, The London Train, (Cape and Harper Collins in the US, 2011) and Clever Girl, (Cape and Harper Collins, 2013).



Martin O'Shaughnessy, Professor of Film Studies, Nottingham Trent, recent publications, Jean Renoir (Manchester University Press, 2000), La Grande Illusion (I. B. Tauris, 2009).
