The Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, assistant professor faculty position in Media Studies, with an emphasis in traditional, new and emerging Spanish and/or Portuguese-speaking media and markets within a global context.  The appointment is for the 2013-14 academic year beginning August 28, 2013.

A Ph.D. in Media Studies or an allied field, and college-level teaching experience are required.  Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is expected.  Candidates should have a record of scholarly research and publishing and the ability to develop a national or international profile as a media scholar.  The successful candidate will teach foundation courses in media history and theory as well as advanced courses in the areas of her or his specialization.
Emerson College, located in the center of Boston, is the nation’s only four-year institution dedicated exclusively to communication and the arts. The college enrolls approximately 3,200 full-time undergraduates and nearly 1,000 full and part-time graduate students in its School of the Arts and School of Communication.
