Hilton Milwaukee City Center

Deadline: April 30, 2011

In this age of social media, you tube and twitter, what is the place for
the social issue documentaryfilm? The rapid spread of mediahas
certainly changed the terms of dissemination and distribution of media.
Ithas also changed the style and content in some cases making social
commentaryin little more than cynical sound bites. Are these changes the
evolution of the long history of social issuedocumentaries or are they a
new form of media entirely.

This panel will explore thevarious alternative styles that have been
recently grown from the change indissemination. I invite papersthat
explore the use of you tube and social media video as well as twitter
withthe explicit goal of generating collective social change.
