The Department of Cinema & Media Studies at Carleton College invites applications for a tenure-track position in digital video production starting September 1, 2011. The position is at the assistant professor level but appointments at a higher rank will also be considered. We are looking for candidates with an MFA in digital video production or equivalent experience, a record of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, and demonstrated proficiency in relevant digital technologies. The successful candidate will teach production courses such as Digital Foundations, Fiction I, Fiction II, and Nonfiction Video as well as Screenwriting and at least one critical studies course in his or her area of interest.

Cinema & Media Studies is a growing department in which critical thinking and creative making are mutually informing. We are seeking a dynamic, program-building candidate who welcomes interdisciplinarity and is capable of developing a national-level production program appropriate to the liberal arts. We are particularly interested in applicants who will strengthen the departmental commitment to students from underrepresented groups.

To apply, please visit the Carleton College Web site at jobs.carleton.edu to complete the online application, including a letter of application, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and two sample syllabi. In addition, send a DVD of creative work (or provide online access) and three letters of recommendation by November 1, 2010 to:
