Don't have a cite (other than the Mulvey commentary on Peeping Tom),
but there are so many examples;

In horror/sci-fi there's Poltergeist, The Tingler, The Blob, Shocker,
Peeping Tom

Bogdanovich: Targets, and Last Picture Show

Manchurian Candidate, Last Action Hero, sex lies videotape,
Almereyda's Hamlet, Cache, The Third Generation

All have screens playing important narrative/thematic roles.
