I was wondering if anybody knows what the deal is with PCM stereo. 
 
I just watched Werner Herzog's _Giovanna d'Arco_. Its only avaialble soundtrack
is described as LPCM stereo, and it's noticeably and annoyingly out of sync with
the mouth movements, and really takes me out off a story that has limited
staging to begin with. I also noticed this problem with the PCM tracks of the
Met's 1990 Ring cycle DVD. Fortunately, that also has Dolby tracks that are in
sync. I assume the PCM tracks are for people who a) don't really care about
images when they're watching opera, or b) so people can put the DVD on as
background and listen to the same performance with enhanced sound, or c) for
people who have some sort of special equipment that makes PCM play in proper
sync with the image.
 
Anyway, I'm writing to ask if there is such a thing as c).
