After being out of commission for a month, ScreenSite.org has returned.



ScreenSite has been providing resources for those who teach and study

film/television since 1994. It contains academic job listings, course

syllabi, calls for conferences and film/video festivals, and the like.



In early June it was hacked and defaced.  We decided to take this attack as

an opportunity and rebuilt ScreenSite from the ground up (using Joomla, a

content-management system).  Yesterday, the new ScreenSite went online for

the first time.  Most of its key data are there, including:



* A listing of over 100 college film/TV programs

* Links to hundreds of film/TV syllabi

* Forums/bulletin boards for posting time-sensitive information such as job

openings and calls for festival entries.

* Information on over 150 film/TV journals/magazines.



Some things have not yet been converted to the new system (e.g., articles

published on the original ScreenSite), but the transition should be complete

in a few weeks.



Please note: If you have linked to ScreenSite's resources in the past, you

will need to redo your links as their online locations have changed. Sorry

for this inconvenience.



Registration is optional (and free) on ScreenSite.  There are a very few

aspects of the site that are only available to registered users, but all of

the resources listed above do not require registration for access.  (If you

were registered with the old ScreenSite, you'll need to create a new account

on this new system)



ScreenSite remains a free resource, open to all. It is sponsored by the

Telecommunication and Film Department at the University of Alabama.



Please drop by the new ScreenSite.org and help us test it and expand it.

Add a link to a new syllabus you've just put online.  Post a call for

papers.  Announce a newly released (academic) book.



And let me know if you run into any glitches or problems or have any

suggestions for improving Screensite.
