DIRECTOR KUROSAWA KIYOSHI AT YALE



March 23-25, 2006



The Council on East Asian Studies at Yale University is proud to 

present a series of events with the Japanese film director Kurosawa 

Kiyoshi in conjunction with the seventh Kinema Club conference. 

Kurosawa is one of Japan’s leading contemporary filmmakers, world 

renowned for his unique mix of art and genre cinema, especially in the 

fields of horror (Cure, Pulse, Séance) and yakuza film (the “Suit 

Yourself or Shoot Yourself” and “The Revenge” series).



Kurosawa will present two of his works: his newest film, the horror 

movie Loft, which has yet to be released in theaters, and The Serpent’s 

Path, a disturbing treatise on revenge and violence. He will also 

conduct two workshops on his work in relation to Japanese cinema.



March 23 (Thursday):

Kurosawa will also participate in one of the panels for the Kinema Club
