Steven, the name of the character played by actress Norah Baring in 

Hitchcock's MURDER! is, as you say, Diana Baring in the film - but was 

Martella Baring in the novel.  (The film is based on the novel.  There 

is no stage play.  The novel was co-authored by 'Clemence Dane'  - real 

name Winifred Ashton - and Helen Simpson.)
