Latest publication in the Film & History CD-Rom Annual Series
The Film & History 2003 CD-ROM Annual includes over thirty-five articles by
film scholars from around the globe. The international distribution of the
work included in our CD-ROM Annual series gives us particular pride; this
series offers diverse perspectives on film studies, cultural studies, and
history as represented by, or reflected in, film.
In addition to the fine articles on the CD-ROM this collection of
scholarship includes:
Three out-of-print classics. (These books are all word-searchable on the
CD-ROM, using the Control-F function.)
NEW TO OUR SERIES…..
American Visions: The Films of Chaplin, Ford, Capra, and Welles, 1936-1941
by Charles Maland. (No new printings since 1977 for this prescient study.)
TWO CLASSIC SURVEYS
American History/American Film (1979) (A trail blazer, showing historicity
of major classics.)
American History/American Television (1983) (The method applied to major TV
productions.)
Both edited by Film & History founding editor, John E. O’Connor with
co-founder, Martin.A. Jackson
Audio features include:
An interview by John Tibbetts with Michael Moore concerning Roger and Me and
the early cinematic career of this controversial documentarian.
An address by John Cawelti, a true pioneer of popular culture studies, given
at the Kansas City Film & History League conference. Cawelti discusses the
context for production of his classic Six-Gun Mystique (1970), a book which
opened the door to popular culture studies for many scholars.
The articles on this Film & History 2003 CD-ROM Annual cover many areas of
study:
The American West(s) in Film and Television
The American Presidency
The War Film
History in Film & Television
International Cinema
Politics and Propaganda
Film Commentary and Analysis
Genre, Gender, and Ethnicity
Pedagogy
