Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know that the latest issue of Flow: A critical forum
on television and media culture came out on Friday, April 29. This issue
features columns by Mary Beth Haralovich, Douglas Kellner, Megan Mullen, Tom
Streeter and Mimi White with a guest column by Jill Dolan.

We have also published a one-shot piece by Trudy L. Hansen.

Please feel free to visit the journal at http://www.flowtv.org to read these
columns and contribute responses to them.

This issue's columns:

Fans of Lesbians on TV: The L Word's Generations. Jill Dolan discusses what
The L Word gets "right" about lesbian relationships.

The West Wing--A Hyperreal, Not a Reality Show. Trudy L. Hanson argues that
the West Wing just might be more important than politics in real life. Is
that necessarily a bad thing?

Oscar Clips Clips; Audience Insight Dips. Mary Beth Haralovich explains how
the Oscars® telecast missed a chance to educate and inform.

The Media and Death: The Case of Terri Schaivo and the Pope. Douglas Kellner
asks why does the "Culture of Life" movement reek of death?

Television's Gated Communities. Megan Mullen shows how new strategies in
cable television are reinforcing the metaphor of cultural gated communities.

The Problem of Morality in Media Policy. Thomas Streeter goes beyond Janet
Jackson's breast: an investigation of how to rethink the moral discourse of
media reform.

Faith-Based Plot Initiatives. Mimi White opens an inquiry into the form and
function of divinity in Joan of Arcadia.

Please feel free to visit the journal at http://www.flowtv.org to read these
columns and contribute responses to them.

Best,

Avi Santo & Christopher Lucas
