War in Film, TV, and History

November 11-14, 2004

www.filmandhistory.org

Area CFP: Stanley Kubrick

One of the master filmmakers of the mid-to-late 20th century is Stanley Kubrick. Central to the work of Kubrick is his examination of how humanity responds to authority, war, and violence. These themes are explored by Kubrick in such diverse films as Paths of Glory, Spartacus, 2001, Dr. Stangelove, A Clockwork Orange, and Full Metal Jacket. Kubrick's work provides a fascinating canvas through which scholars may examine the impact of war upon the human condition. Please join us in exploring Kubrick's life and work through the theme of war in his cinematic legacy.

The Film & History League, with the Literature/Film Association, will be holding its conference on "War in Film, Television, and History" during November 11-14, 2004, near Dallas, TX. Full details on the location, registration procedures, and additional area topics can be found on the web site www.filmandhistory.org. Deadline for proposals is July 30, 2004.
