My thanks to those who so kindly and helpfully responded to my
question-born-of-frustration.

Basically, the film I had in mind is Jaimi Humberto Hermosillo's
HOMEWORK (Mexico, 1990).

The recent Russsian film, touring the Hermitage, in one continuous take,
is of course Alexandr Sokurov's RUSSIAN ARK (which I'm told should have
a commercial release in Australia later this year).
