I'd like you to know about a new fellowship opportunity at the Library
of Congress. The following text has been excerpted from LC's website;
please see www.loc.gov/rr/mopic/cokefellowship/ for further details on
requirements and applications.

COCA-COLA FELLOWSHIP FOR THE STUDY OF ADVERTISING AND WORLD CULTURES

The Coca-Cola Fellowship for the Study of Advertising and World Cultures
will be awarded annually for a period of five years, beginning in 2003.
Administered by the Library s Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded
Sound Division (M/B/RS) in collaboration with the Library s Office of
Scholarly Programs, awards will be made to researchers studying the
interrelationships among advertising, culture, commerce and the media.
The fellowship will provide recipients with access to resources for an
extended period of in-depth, multi-disciplinary research into the
Library s broadcast advertising and other audio-visual collections. A
supporting stipend of $20,000 will be provided for the duration of the
fellowship, which must include three months residency in the Washington,
DC, area to conduct research in the Library s collections. Scholars of
all nationalities are invited to apply.

Selection of the Coca-Cola Fellow will be made by the Librarian of
Congress upon the recommendation of a three-person Selection Committee,
chosen from the broader academic community. The Selection Committee
members will be appointed by the Librarian of Congress in consultation
with the staff of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound
Division. The deadline for completed applications for the 2003 award is
January 31, 2003, with the recipient to be announced on April 1, 2003.
For more information on how to apply for the Coca-Cola Fellowship, visit
the web site at www.loc.gov/rr/mopic/cokefellowship/.

THE CURRENT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS: January 31, 2003.

Apologies for any cross-posting.
