Others... the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Carpenter's The Thing. Hitchcock's 1956 The Man Who Knew Too Much over his own 1934 version. Cronenberg's The Fly, definitely.
But what do you do about essential texts and legends -- Shakespeare, say, or Dracula -- where you've got countless versions that may or may not be remakes, actually, but certainly take into account the films that have preceded them?
